Congratulations Class of 2026

Congratulations to our graduates! On 8 July 2026, the Class of 2026 celebrated their graduation at the Oberbank Forum in Linz, marking the end of a demanding and rewarding journey at Linz International School Auhof.

This year’s graduates earned their qualifications through the Austrian Matura and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, completing one or both of these demanding programmes. Reaching this milestone takes discipline, curiosity, and resilience, and every one of our students should be proud of what they have achieved.

Our warmest thanks go to the homeroom teachers who guided this cohort through their final years: Christina Mathe, Stephan Greenaway, and Katharina Bodingbauer. Their dedication, patience, and steady support made a real difference for these students.

To the Class of 2026: we wish you every success in the next chapter, wherever it takes you. You will always be part of the LISA community.

A Special Thank You to Oberbank

We are deeply grateful to Oberbank for sponsoring this year’s graduation ceremony and for welcoming us into the Oberbank Forum. Their generous support gave our students and their families a fitting and memorable setting to mark this milestone, and we thank them sincerely for their partnership.

Chess at the National Finals!

This year, our school proudly qualified for the national school chess championship. Our students competed brilliantly and finished in an impressive 6th place out of schools from across Austria.

This year, our chess team qualified for the national school finals (Bundesfinale Schulschach I), where they finished in sixth place with seven match points. We congratulate Lev Pomazanov (4L) for winning the individual board prize on board 4!

Chess has been growing steadily at the Europagymnasium for a number of years now. Alongside an elective course (unverbindliche Übung), the school hosts two school competitions each year: the “Weihnachtsturnier” and the “Schulschlussturnier”. There is also a Chess Project Day at the end of the school year. Chess brings together students from our own school branches Kepler, eLLA and LISA, as well as from our neighbouring school HAK, a wonderful example of the game uniting people across schools and regions.

We are incredibly proud of our students for qualifying and representing us so well. A big thank you goes to Thomas Gierlinger for organising and nurturing chess at our school.

Democracy in Action!

On the 13th of April 2026, about 450 students of the Europagymnasium Auhof attended a panel discussion at the Pädagogische Hochschule Upper Austria, Linz.

The discussion centred around a pressing question: “How authoritarian should Austria be?” Exploring themes of democracy, decision-making, and political leadership, the topic could hardly have been more relevant in today’s political climate.

Representatives of all five parties currently seated in the Austrian National Council (Nationalrat) took part in the debate. The Greens were represented by Sigrid Maurer, NEOS by Felix Eypeltauer, the SPÖ by Robert Laimer, the ÖVP by Johanna Jachs, and the FPÖ by Michael Fürtbauer.

Having voices from across the entire political spectrum in one room gave students a rare chance to hear directly from elected politicians and engage with real democratic debate.

The event was organised by students of WPG 8, the 8th year elective course, together with the student council (Schülervertretung). A special thank you also goes to history and political science teacher Bettina Steinhauser, whose support and dedication were essential in bringing this event to life for the whole school.
