Welcome Letter from Dr. Wansch

Dear Pupils, Parents and Friends of LISA

Welcome to Linz International School Auhof, or the LISA as we like to call it. Our school is a state funded IB World school located in the northern part of Linz, near Johnannes Kepler University next to the rolling green Austrian countryside. We offer children aged 10 to 18 a high standard of academic education in a caring and intercultural community. Our pupils gain skills to enable them to thrive in an increasingly global society.

LISA pupils represent more than 50 different nations, and speak over 23 languages. No single culture dominates and we are greatly enriched by this diversity in a multicultural, multilingual environment, with English as the language of tuition. We have a tradition of curriculum development and innovation, and have offered the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for over 12 years enjoying great success. Our IB program leads to the award of the full IB Diploma, a qualification recognised and sought after by universities around the world. Most of our pupils also sit the standardised Austrian national final exams (Matura), which allows entry to university study in Austria and around the world.

The LISA provides a caring and supportive educational experience for around 450 pupils, with small group sizes in the IB subject areas allowing high quality teaching and helping each pupil reach his or her individual potential. This has led to an average pass rate of over 90% in the IB exams, something that we and our pupils are very proud of. At the heart of our school and our success are the people that make it up. It is the energy and imagination of our staff, and their enthusiasm to go that extra mile that creates the experiences, opportunities, and special atmosphere that our pupils enjoy. Pupils, parents and teachers are constantly working together to improve and adapt in order to create a comfortable, safe and productive working environment for every learner at our school.

I therefore urge you to visit us, either on an open evening or by arranging a personal visit.Talk to me, talk to the staff, talk to our pupils, talk to their parents, talk to our alumni – we will do everything we can to help you discover whether Linz International School is the right place for your children.
